A cosmonaut’s working day aboard the International Space Station (ISS) lasts eight hours, part of which is spent in meetings with mission control centers in different countries, Russian cosmonaut Sergei Prokopyev told participants at the 2nd Global Digital Forum.
“We wake up, wash up, have breakfast, and then hold a conference with mission control centers around the world. After the conference, once we’ve agreed on what we’ll be doing that day, we discuss a few details and get to work. A cosmonaut’s working day lasts eight hours, including a lunch break,” he said.
Sergei Prokopyev noted that cosmonauts from different countries generally keep in touch even after returning to Earth. According to him, work chats help them stay connected and coordinate with one another.
“We keep our work chats going. We wish each other happy birthday and so on. I’d say we have a close professional community in that respect,” the cosmonaut said.
